For the month of February we are doing our Read-A-Thon. This month-long literacy celebration encourages students to build a love of reading while working together toward a shared goal of 10,000 total reading minutes as a school community.

Throughout the month, students will track their reading both at school and at home. Classroom literacy time, literacy support time, and nightly home reading will all contribute to our school-wide total.

We are inviting families, friends, and community members to pledge a donation in support of our readers. Our fundraising goal is $700, with all funds raised going toward purchasing new books for our school library. Any funds raised beyond our goal will be save to support future school community events.

At the end of the Read-A-Thon, we will:

• Tally our total reading minutes
• Celebrate achieving (or exceeding!) our 10,000 minutes goal
• Present Ms. Emily with a cheque for new library books
• Enjoy a school-wide celebration day (details to be announced)
